Whitcomb, Harold Wayne passed away peacefully on March 9, 2018 in Winter Park, Florida. He was born July 22, 1929 in Zolfo Springs, Florida, a fifth generation Floridian. He graduated from the University of Florida with an accounting degree. After graduation, he enlisted in the U. S. Army. He completed Officer Candidate School and earned his Jump Wings at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was a platoon leader with the 5th Regimental Combat Team until the end of the Korean War, earning his Combat Infantry Badge. He continued his service to the country in the U. S. Army Reserve, retiring as a Colonel. A longtime CPA in Bradenton, Florida, he was active in civic affairs, serving as President of the Bradenton Kiwanis Club and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Manatee Memorial Hospital. He loved to travel the world, but most enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Martha, daughter Carol Whitcomb Kropp, son John (Yvonne), grandchildren Megan Abbott (Pravar), Courtney, Sara and Lindsey Kropp, Taylor and Zachary Whitcomb. His sisters Betty Weeks and Ann James also survive him. A memorial service will be held on March 16, 2018, at 11 AM at All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park, Florida.
