George M. Kowatch, 94, of Altamonte Springs, Florida (previously West Chester, PA and Vero Beach, FL) passed away on July 6, 2017. He was born on August 24, 1922 in Lansford, Pennsylvania to the late George and Helen (Youchock) Kowatch. George was a United States Army veteran of WWII and served in the 87th Chemical Mortar Battalion for 326 days of combat from Normandy to the Elbe River in Germany. He received the American Theater Service Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Ribbon with one silver star, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He graduated from Penn State University in 1948 with a degree in Business. While at Penn State, he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity, Blue Key and managed the Ice Hockey team. He retired as a Marketing Manager for USS Chemicals, a division of US Steel. Mr. Kowatch was predeceased by his wife Alice (Miller) and is survived by his three sons, Gary (Kim), Marty and George (Tory) Kowatch along with four grandchildren, Zachary, Dale, Michaela and Sterling. His final resting place will be at Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Baldwin-Fairchild Goldenrod, Winter Park, FL 32792.
