Genevieve Louise Falcone Pratt, former resident of Winter Park, Florida died on Sunday, September 13th in Boynton Beach at the age of 95 years. She was born on December 19, 1924 to the late John Baptist Falcone and Julia Giandonato Falcone in Brownsville, Pennsylvania where she attended both elementary and High Schools. Genevieve was a World War II veteran following the example of her four older brothers and served in the United States Coast Guard for over two years. She later attended the Stenotype Institution in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and became a court reporter employed by the Interstate Commerce Commission in Washington, D.C. Continuing her education classes in D.C. she later was employed by a contracting and engineering firm as the office manager and traveled extensively throughout the northeast.
Genevieve moved to Winter Park, Florida in 1960-61 while her husband, the late Lt. Col. Earl M. Pratt, was stationed at the Orlando Air Force Base. As a lifelong Catholic, she was a member of Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas where she served several years as their local Regent. Other interests included being a member of the Winter Park Garden Club, where she was elected treasurer of the Central-Garden Gate Circle and served as the World Gardening Chairman for many years, and the Retired Officers' Wives Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Earl M. Pratt, her parents Mr. and Mrs. John Falcone, her four brothers: Ralph Falcone(Anita), Frank Falcone(Helen), Ray Falcone(Bernie), Herman Falcone(Jayne) and her three sisters: May Paradise(Dom),Yolanda Scorza(Nick), Joanne Falcone along with their spouses.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Louise Taff of Coral Springs, and Janet Pratt Nodine of Boca Raton, Florida. Also surviving are her five grandchildren Thomas Michael Taff (Hayley), Rachel Louise Taff, Julia Taff Ayers (Andy), Caitlin Nodine and Samuel Wade Nodine III as well as her great grandson, Israel Buttermore. Always devoted and generous, Genevieve was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Baldwin- Fairchild Funeral Home with visitation on Thursday, September 17th from 5:00-6:30PM at the Goldenrod Chapel located at 7520 Aloma Avenue.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, September 18th at 11:00AM at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church in downtown Winter Park. Burial immediately following will be held at Palm Cemetery also in Winter Park.
