It has been almost 3 years since you went to heaven. I  love and miss  you every single day. They say Grief is loves souvenir, I guess that's why I grieve so for you. You said you would be waiting to hold the door for me ,  You are truly the love of my life , I was Blessed to have you in my life.

Dear Marilyn, Sarah & Heather....o am so sadden and shocked at Gary's passing.

I will not forget the friendship we had and the teasing Gary did,  He showed us what a
husband and man of God looked like.  He did things for the kids and I we still talk about.

A lot of people loved Gary for his wit and sense of humor. I was in awe of his enormous heart and the depth of his silent, behind the scenes generosity.  I hope to be like Gary before my time is up.

This world has many heroes, some you'd know by name.
They give their best at what they do, so they deserve their fame.
Among all of the heroes this world has ever saw, There is not
one admired more than my Father-in-law. Perhaps not like the
others, he doesn't look for praise. He's heroic in his special way, in his thoughtful caring ways .Perhaps he's not as famous as the others that you see. He's everything and so much more to me that heroes ought to be. He keeps his word it's good as gold, on this you can depend. He's honest and he's loyal too, He's also my true friend.
When I hear about a hero, and the great things they have done,
I think about my Father-in- law, and he's the greatest one.

Gary you are the best Father-in-law a son-in-law could ever have I will miss you dearly.

Uncle Gary you will truly be missed! To one of my favorite uncles! You always had a smile that would light up a room and a wonderful sense of humor always making us laugh! We love you so very much! I know momma and you will have so much to talk about in heaven! God gained another angel!❤️

The best friend a person could have.  Always knew where he stood in his beliefs in life and God.  We will always cherish our times together and will meet again through  our shared faith.   


Our profession brought us together but over time a friendship developed. I greatly admired Gary and looked up to him with a deep respect. Wish I was more like him. He will be missed. Deepest sympathy to his wife Marilyn and family. Godspeed Gary!❤

What can I say about my “Brother from another mother”, that hasn’t already been said? The laughs, tears, good times and many shared (the same) birthday will ALWAYS be etched in my mind! I will miss you terribly, my Best Friend! I look forward to “kicking back” with you someday in heaven when it is my time to join you! Until then, rest peacefully my Best Friend! You are MISSED!

Today August 31 is  our  48 year Wedding Anniversary. Gary you are the love of my life and always will be.

Gary was the best friend I have ever known and a man I aspired to be like.  This is what I put on my Facebook page that I wanted to share with Marilyn:

I never post anything, ever.  However, today is different.  Today, I lost the best friend a man could ever ask for and the world lost a great man.  Today, I lost my best friend of 30 years, Gary Trotter.  Gary was a devout Christian man, a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.  Gary was a veteran, a fierce patriot of our great country and totally devoted to everyone he cared about.  He was also a strong advocate for anyone in law enforcement.  He has respect for all of us on the thin blue line and still called me Sarge.  I looked up to his honesty, integrity and loyal friendship.  He was always there for me no matter what the topic or battle was.  I will miss him desperately because I have come to know that you really only have a few friends like Gary and that they come along but once in a lifetime.  I am heartbroken.  Gary and I had a dream of one day toasting the sunset over the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in our campers.  I will have to do that alone now but I will do it.  For him.  Rest in Peace my dearest and closest buddy.  Sarge


Dear Marilyn, 
We are so shocked and saddened by Gary’s passing.  In 2015 when Gary learned of my Son’s wife dying at age 39, he invited us in and wrote a check to Scott.  But it wasn’t that,  it was his gracious heart and genuine concern.   He was a true gentleman and a man of faith.  We felt blessed to know him, truly blessed.

He was a classic!  And my little brother.  Shared fun family get togethers throughout the years.  Looking forward to meeting in Heaven.

I met Gary many years ago when his company was doing electric work for the contractor I was working with. 
He was such a great person, always remember his saying “ It’s Golden Man “.
I was able to help Gary build his home in Winter Park, and always remember the open house party when the house was complete. 
I still remember like or was yesterday the fishing trip to Pine Island with our buddy. 
The world needs more people like Gary.

Dear Marilynn,
We are so saddened to learn of Gary’s passing and our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your entire family.  Though we only knew him briefly, our connection in the mountains was instant and our memories are profound.  Your willingness to possibly help us with our dream of “sharing the mountain” was not only selfless, it was the epitome of Christian character and brotherhood!  We will forever remember the kindness you both extended to us, relative strangers.  From the first telephone call to the day on the mountain, Gary’s deep Christian faith and love for God and his family was both palpable and admirable.  
We pray for God’s peace and comfort in the days to come.  Please know that you have forever friends in us whether we’re in Savannah or the beautiful Blue Ridge Maintains. God bless and hold you each and every one 🙏🏻.
