Carmine Carlo Briscese, age 88, of Winter Park, Florida passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 in his home and surrounded by the love of his family. Carmine was born July 21, 1932 in Venosa, Italy to the late Teodoro and Emanuela (Orlando) Briscese.
Carmine was an auto mechanic in the family business – European Sports Car Service – and specialized in Italian made cars like Ferraris and Alfa Romeos. Many customers became life-long friends and “the shop” was a home away from home where he spent every day working alongside his wife, sister, brother-in-law and nephew. He spent a lifetime working on these cars, beginning at a very young age, and it was his passion – building, fixing, creating - it was truly his gift. He was a family man and loved his wife and girls beyond words; he would’ve given his family the moon had they asked him for it. He was loved by all who knew him, his laugh and love of life was infectious, and he always had advice at the ready for those that came to him in need of help. In retirement, Carmine spent countless hours still working on engines in his own little shop at home, in his yard tending to his roses and plants, enjoying more time in Italy with family and friends, and later on, enjoying the company of his granddaughters, whom he adored. Carmine was very proud of his Italian roots but also loved the USA for everything this country had given him and his family. He always said that courage and hard work is all you need to realize your dreams and he knew it to be true because he had lived it. He was Catholic by faith and a member of the P.R.O.B.U.S. Italian Club as well as the Alfa Romeo Club.
Carmine is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Carmela Briscese; daughters Emanuela Briscese Vega (Jose Vega) and Maria LaSalle (Jacob LaSalle); sisters Rae Mollica and Lina Peloso; granddaughters Millie LaSalle and Emilia Vega as well as nieces, nephews and cousins still in Italy.
Carmine was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Emanuele Briscese and Vincenzo Briscese.
A Celebration of Life Gathering for Carmine will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, 7520 Aloma Avenue, Winter Park, Florida 32792. www.baldwinfairchildgoldenrod.com
Years ago, a family friend wrote about Carmine’s life experiences – from his childhood in Venosa, growing up during and after World War 2, his travels to find work in Post-War Italy and what led him to the US and the success he was able to find, both professionally and personally.
