Sandra Moody Weeks, known to many as Nana, was born to Julian and Eloise Moody on Sept 27, 1949, in Dillon, SC. She was called home to heaven on June 7, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Meagan Barrow. Sandy was a long time resident of Winter Haven, FL, and worked as an administrative assistant in the medical field at both Winter Haven Hospital and Lakeland Regional Health Hollis Cancer Center before semi-retiring. After retirement, she stayed occupied by working along side her dear friend Bill Watson at Watson and Watson Realty.
Sandy was a very strong willed Southern lady that beat cancer 4 times in her life. She was elegant and old school with a heart the size of North Carolina. All who knew Sandy, knew her to be a loving person who valued her family. Her ability to grow anything and everything was well known. Many a pineapple from her own backyard were enjoyed by her friends and family. Sandy enjoyed being surrounded by her family and watching her family play in her pool but there was to be “no running” or “gommin and messin.”
Sandy checked many items of off her bucket list including an Alaskan cruise and sky diving, but one of the greatest was finding true love. While she will be missed, her life lessons, love, and spirit will live on through all who knew her.
She is survived by her fiancé, Frank DeGiso, her son Lee (Elaine) Barrow, daughter Julia (Gary) Washington, brothers Steve (Robin) Moody and Bob (Jennifer) Moody, grandchildren Stephanie (Tyler) Manning, Stephen (Leeann) Hill, Donovan and Brenden Loftin, Rachel and Hannah Barrow, and great grandchildren Braxton Hill and Liam Manning as well as many extended family members.
Memorial service will be held June 22, 2019, at 2:00 pm at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home 645 W Central Ave, Winter Haven, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G Komen For the Cure organization.
