Ruth Audrey (Hawkins) Lang was born on August 20th, 1935. (How true to her birth sign, LEO- she was, would be truly revealed over her next 83 years.) She was born in Center Harbor, NH to her mother of record, Marguerite Christina Atherton and her father Alaric Curtis Hawkins, and raised by another incredible mother figure, Natalie Phyllis Atherton. The product of divorce, she was never without all of her family, who sought only her happiness as she grew. She is pre-deceased by her husband of 55 years, Charles Willard Lang, Jr. The union produced two sons. She made her homes in Dover, Delaware, during her stint as an air force bride, and then in Newmarket, NH when she and Charlie would snow bird to Winter Haven, Florida to get away from the cold winter months. In Winter Haven they felt very much at home living nearby their life long friends Dottie & John McCoy, of Eagle Lake, Fl.
Over the years Audrey had been employed by Sprague Electronics in Concord, NH in their segments division, MacCallen Manufacturing in Newmarket, NH, in their mica rings division, a floor supervisor/manager at Morningstar, Manufacturing in Newmarket, NH and finally as a Food Service Instructor, where she would retire, at the Memorial Union Building’s, Mub/Pub cafeteria, at The University of New Hampshire, in Durham NH.
Audrey loved to travel and was especially fond of the trip she took with her husband Charlie, to their beloved Scotland. She was especially proud of her two boys, Chip & Ric, who were happily her champion all their lives. If there was ever a rift between them, she would see to it that it ended in peace.
She is predeceased by a maternal sister, Judith Ann (Rollins) Howcroft, and a maternal brother, John Steven Rollins. She is survived by a brother, Bruce Wayne Hawkins, Sr. with whom she remained true friends, offering him unyielding support through out her life, his wife Patsy and their children, Bruce Hawkins Jr., his former wife Lori, and their children Zakary and Skylar Hawkins. Kelly (Hawkins) and her husband, Bleau Foster, and their children Haylee and Madison. Also surviving are her cherished two sons, Charles Willard Lang, III, & his wife, Judy (Archambeault) of Newmarket, NH her children, Derek Bentley, his sons Donovan and Connor and Cari (Bentley) Stevens, and Chip’s beloved daughters with 1st wife, Lynda Ann (Couture) Higgins, of New Port Richey, Florida, Nichole Marie Lang, of New Port Richey, Florida, and Erica Elizabeth (Lang) Constantineau and her husband, David and their daughter Abygale Rayne also of New Port Richey Florida. Alaric Curtis Lang and his wife, Tammy (Charity) of Winter Haven Florida and their children, Rachel Elyse Ann (Lang) Denton, and her fiancé Sherman Loy and their children, Trinity Faith, Elijah William, and Audrianna Hope, or as Audrey called her, “Twinkle Toes”, all of Winter Haven, Florida. And finally Michael Alaric Ian Lang, her one and only grandson, and his wife Sara (Poulin) and their fur-baby, “Whiskey” of Dover, NH. She was especially proud of his formation of a cover rock and roll band with his uncle Chip, called "Chippy & The Yaya's", in which he played guitar and fronted the band as lead singer.
One of the last events she attended was Mike and Sara’s wedding, in 2017, where she happily made one of her final rounds on the dance floor. She is loved by so many of her extended family and friends, now and forever. A committal to the grave with a celebration of her life to follow, will be held at a future date, with time and place to be announced.
