Marilyn was a retired vocal music teacher and church organist who moved from Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin to Florida 3 years ago. She was a member of Christ Church Grosse Pointe and mariners Church Detroit, was past president of Detroit Women's Historical Society, founder of Friends of Music at Wayne State University, supporter of Detroit Symphony Orchestra, detroit Institute of Arts, Michigan Opera Theater and organist with multiple Detroit-area churches and soprano with Rackham Symphony Choir, Wayne State Choral Union and Christ Church Grosse Pointe Chorale.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Calvin Schorer, daughter Katherine Averill and grandson Christopher Pamerleau. She leaves behind her daughters Elizabeth Pamerleau (George) of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Martha Ingalls (Brian) of Toney, Alabama and Mary Rice (Robert) of Lake Alfred, Florida along with her step-daughter Anna Schorer (Gary Kravitz) of Mendota Heights, Minnesota, step-sons Joseph Schorer (Mildred Calhoun) of Northbrook, Illinois and John Schorer of St. Paul, Minnesota as well as her 6 granddaughters, 8 grandsons and many great-grandchildren.
