WINTER HAVEN - Donald M. Danner was born on April 1st, 1936 in Red Hill, Pennsylvania. He peacefully departed this world in his home on July 20, 2012 due to heart failure. He was the only child of the late George "Malon" Danner and Glenna M. Danner.
Don was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Renate Anneliese (Royer) Danner, whom he met and married in Nurnberg Germany in 1959. He lovingly cared for her during her illness, at their home for two years until she passed on June 5th, 2012.
Don "Danny" Danner is survived by his two loving daughters: Susan Danner of Allentown PA and his younger daughter, Nancy Elizabeth, as well as two grand-daughters whom he adored and cared for as a perfect, loving grandfather: Christina Maria Danner and Samantha Elizabeth, both of whom are full time college students.
Don attended William Allen High School where he especially enjoyed being on the football team.
After high school, he served in the Marine Corp from 4/7/53 to 4/6/56 after which time he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a Military Police Officer from 10/2/56 to 2/25/65. Following his Military career, he chose the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for employment in their private security sector. He retired as captain after a long and successful career at "the Steel." In 2000 Don and Renate retired to Winter Haven Florida.
Don will be remembered for his terrific sense of humor and infallible ability to make people laugh, his love of animals especially the dogs he has had throughout his lifetime. He was an avid reader, loved sports, was a lifetime movie buff, enjoyed art which including being a self taught artist. He loved fishing, boating, and most of all had a gift of enjoying the simple things in life. He will be forever loved and missed as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend.
Funeral Services are Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at noon at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1265 Robinson Drive, Haines City, FL.
