Bobby Eugene Smith, 85https://admin.mem.com/SSO/newde/8887079#contententry/generalinfo, passed away on October 11, 2019 in Winter Haven, Florida. He was born on April 20, 1934 in Kings Mountain, North Carolina to the late George T. Smith and Edna Ellison. Bobby moved to Florida with his family in 1944. After finishing his education, Bobby began working for Western Union. He advanced in his career with the company and became a District Manager. This position allowed he and his family to move to many different states. In 1974 Bobby and his family made the permanent move back to Florida.
In his spare time Bobby enjoyed square dancing with his wife and travelling to the mountains, especially those in Pigeon Forge. Bobby also enjoyed volunteering at Central Baptist Church in Winter Haven.
Bobby is predeceased by his parents as well as his 3 brothers. He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Dwanna Smith, daughters Gwen Rollins (Rodney) of West Palm Beach and Pam Weiner (Craig) of Lady Lake and his grandchildren Daniel Rollins, Joseph Rollins and Abby Weiner. Bobby also leaves behind his sister Jean Dague of Sanford and his great-granddaughter Emmi Weiner along with a multitude of extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Auburndale from 11:00am to 12:30pm. A funeral service will begin at 12:30pm followed by a graveside service to take place at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Auburndale. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Bobby's name to the missions of Central Baptist Church.
