Barbara graduated from Saint Anthony’s Catholic High School in Chicago. She served in the United States Air Force where she met the love of her life, Jack Craig. After moving to Florida in 1973, she became a founding member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Winter Haven. She was also active in the church Prayer Shawl group, that knitted prayer shawls and lap robes. She worked for State Farm Insurance and retired after 23 years in 1997.
Barbara enjoyed both sewing and knitting. She very much enjoyed going to doll shows, collecting Beanie Babies, Fenton Christmas trees and Eff and Bee Christmas ornaments. But most of all, she loved spending time with family. They were of utmost importance to her and she loved to babysit her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband Jack L. Craig, her son David W. Craig, sisters Nancy Meyer and Marianne LaMay. She is survived by her daughter Beverly J. Dunaway and husband Jerry of Winter Haven, FL, son William J. Craig and wife Connie of Winter Haven, FL, daughter Diane M. Palmatier (Rob) of Lake Wales, FL and daughter Susan M. Duncan (Woody) of Winter Haven, FL. Barbara also leaves behind her grandchildren Frank D McCaulley (Laura) of Lakeland, FL , Jimmy Lee Palmatier (Amy) of Lake Wales, FL, Julie Lynn Duncan (Joe) of Winter Haven, FL, Alec M. Duncan (Melanie) of Lakeland, FL, Devin J. Craig (Megan) of Winter Haven, FL, Forrest W. Craig (Hannah) of Orlando, FL and Amber N. Craig (Brenden) of Orlando, FL, along with her 17 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral Mass will be held at
St Matthew Catholic Church Winter Haven, Fl.
9:00 am Thursday February 22, 2024.
A reception will directly follow the Mass.
