Marcia Ella Amelia Andersen Murphy age 91 died at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 15, 1931 in Orlando, Florida to Martin Andersen and Jannette Bludworth Andersen. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Frank “Speedy” Murphy; as well as her parents and step-mother Gracia Barr Andersen and her sister, Dorris Andersen Shaffer.
She is survived by her three Children: Michael A. Murphy Sr. (Laura) and their children, Michael Jr. (Taylor) and William A. Murphy (Julie). Her daughter, Karen A. Murphy and her daughters, Murphy Feehan (Kevin) and Shannon Feehan. And her daughter Mary Jane A. Murphy and her children, Ashley Rowland (Donnie), and Allan Crain (Jen) and 13 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Murphy attended the University of Florida where she was a member of the Delta, Delta, Delta Sorority. Marcia was the beautiful daughter of Orlando pioneer, Martin Andersen, then owner of The Orlando Sentinel Star, She enjoyed the privilege of a charmed and wonderful life growing up in Orlando where she met the love of her life, Frank “Speedy” Murphy as a teenager. They had a long, wonderful marriage and traveled all over the world together especially to the Bahamas where they owned a home in Green Turtle Cay.
Mrs. Murphy was a member of The Junior League of Orlando; The Rosalind Club; and the Country Club of Orlando for many years. She was also a member of The Cathedral Church of St. Luke, Orlando, and The Church of the Ascension, Windermere.
Marcia was the epitome of a gracious, Southern lady. She was a devoted wife; a loving mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother as well as a dear life-long friend to so many. Her beauty, poise, charm and gentle sense of humor was present until her last days. Her greatest love was “Speedy” and her precious children and their children.
A funeral service for Marcia will be held Friday, July 21, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cathedral Church of Saint Luke, 130 N. Magnolia Ave., Orlando, FL 32801. A reception will folow in The Great Hall . Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
