Gladys Morgan Carroll, 74 of Clermont went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 30th. She was born January 31, 1944 to Roy and Argolia Morgan in the small rural community of Burrville in Morgan County, Tennessee, located in the Southern Plateau of The Appalachian Mountains.
She moved to West Orange County in the 1950’s and in 1968 married Herman E. Carroll in Winter Garden after meeting at the local VFW where she worked along with her two other jobs. She, with her husband owned Carroll’s Welding on Maguire Road until his passing in 1999. Mrs. Carroll was also a retired school bus operator for Orange County Public Schools, and a Cosmetologist.
Gladys loved the Lord and taught Sunday school many years ago. She enjoyed singing, and had a beautiful voice. She especially loved to sing in Church; her favorite to sing was “One Day at a Time.”
She also liked to play basketball and dance; when Gladys and Herman were first married they entered and won many dance contests in the area. She was also a tad adventurous owning her own motorcycle and joining a local Bike Club with her husband.
Gladys cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and sacrificed a lot throughout her life so they could have a better one.
She was hard-working with a fighting spirit, but recently she was tired and ready to be with her loving husband Herman; daughter Sandra Wall, son, Carl Copeland Jr. Granddaughter Robin Gunnell-Mifflin; and her beloved brothers Clayton, Parley, Perry, Oran, Eddie and Dale Morgan.
She is survived by daughters: Karen Chauppetta, Peggy Gunnell (Robin), Teresa Waller Sonya Dumas (John) and Linda Crews; son-in-law Scott Wall Sr.; her brothers: Walter Morgan and Randall Morgan, her 7 Grandchildren and 10 Great-grandchildren.
