Donald R. Elliott, 86, died peacefully on June 23, 2019 in Ocoee, Florida after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. His funeral service will be held at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home – Winter Garden at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 11, 2019 followed by internment at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
Don was born on November 2, 1932 in San Antonio, Texas. He lived with his parents Ray and Ava Elliott in Riverdale, Nebraska. After graduating from Riverdale High School he received his BA from the University of South Carolina on a NROTC scholarship and MBA from the University of Colorado – Boulder. He served in the US Navy and Navy Reserves from 1954 through 1957. He lived with his family in California, Nebraska, Colorado, Tennessee, Missouri, and Georgia before moving to Florida in 1970 where he resided for the past 48 years. After a long career as a chief financial officer in the hospitality industry he retired filling his time with many hobbies that included woodworking, needlepoint, and traveling across the United States and Europe.
Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sally Elliott; his children, Donald Elliott (Anne), David Elliott (Karen), Sara Thompson (Richard), Linda Steward (Harrison), and Deborah Elliott (Wendy Cadge), 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
