Tamra retired from Forsyth County Health Department after 42 years and enjoyed retirement with her husband of 55 years, Michael Smithson, and her beautiful and very special daughter, Traci. Traci, who was the wind beneath her wings, filled her life with love, friendship, and was her favorite shopping partner. Also surviving is her sister, Drusella Boone (Mickey) of Winston Salem, Allen Smithson (Kathy) of Winston Salem, and Dan Smithson (Gretchen) of Tucson, AZ. Tamra had many friends that were considered family, including her "Retiree Group" and church family.
A special thanks to so many wonderful friends, especially Wanda Bigalow and Jackie Boggs, who helped her through hard times while making beautiful memories.
Tamra's favorite quote was "At the end of the day, people don't remember what you said or did, they remember how you made them feel"...and that was Tamra.
A visitation for Tamra will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Old Town Baptist Church, 4386 Shattalon Dr, Winston Salem, North Carolina 27106, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Tamra will be laid to rest in Forsyth Memorial Park, Winston Salem, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tamra's memory may be made to Monarch Studio 651, a program for special needs people; Old Town Baptist Church Special Ministries; and Trellis Supportive Care.
