Mrs. Booth was born May 22, 1936, in Sherrodsville, Ohio to the late Earl Orville Smith and Mary Wheeler Smith.
Pat grew up in Hopedale, Ohio and after graduating from Hopedale High School she went to Washington, DC where she was employed in the Identification Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. That is where she met her husband, Samuel M. Booth, formerly of Graham, N.C. She worked at various jobs in Chapel Hill, N. C. while he completed his education. Following his graduation from UNC Law School, Sam returned to the FBI as a special agent and that employment carried them to Washington, DC, Quantico, Va., Indianapolis and South Bend, Indiana, Pittsburgh, Pa. and Wheeling, West Va. Daughter, Pamela, was born in Chapel Hill and son, Sam, Jr. was born in Indianapolis. Sam left the FBI after three years and was employed as a staff attorney with the Highway Division of the North Carolina Attorney Generals office. That employment brought them to Winston Salem in 1963, to condemn an additional strip of land for the ramp from Robinhood Road onto Silas Creek Parkway. While attending UNC they lived in a mobile home park where they met Parks and Bobbie Roberts and Parks was practicing law in Winston Salem and preparing to form a partnership with Leslie G. Frye and they ask Sam to join them. Pat and Sam remained in Winston Salem until 2016, when they moved to Clemmons, NC.
Pat enjoyed playing bridge, traveling in the states and abroad and being with her family and friends.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband of 66 years, daughter Pamela Booth Davis and her husband, Edward Davis of Raleigh, NC, and son Samuel M. Booth, Jr. and his wife, Roslyn Peterson Booth of Clemmons, NC; grandchildren, Samantha R. Booth, Taylor Booth Davis, Sarah C. Davis and Ashlyn R. Booth Chillemi and husband, Jessie Chillemi and two great grandchildren, Wynter R. Chillemi and Saylor R. Chillemi.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 26th from 10am to 11am at Vogler Funeral & Cremations at Forsyth Memorial Park. Pat will be laid to rest in a private family graveside service. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Salvation Army.
