Margaret was born December 29th, 1929 in Mexico, Missouri to Mandolin Hampton Isman and Michael Maurice Isman and is survived by her sister, Joyce Isman Gastler of Dallas, Texas and three children, Theresa Britton Rohlfing (Christopher Norman Rohlfing), Craig Richard Britton (Karen Billig Britton), and Michelle Britton Soyars (Kevin Wade Soyars). Grandchildren include Kelley Rohlfing Marchbanks (Aaron Doyne Marchbanks), and Britton James Soyars. Great-Granddaughter Lillian Layne Marchbanks.
Margaret was a graduate of St. Brendan Catholic School in Mexico, Missouri and received her RN from DePaul University School of Nursing in 1950. She was married to Richard Spencer Britton in 1952, and the two were married for 58 years until his passing in 2011. Margaret and Richard “Dick” Britton built a successful life and family together, got their pilots licenses together, and were famously relocated 16 times over a 23-year period as Dick pursued his career across the Midwest with Sears, Roebuck and Company.
Following Dick’s passing, she enjoyed many years with her best friend, convertible owner and genuine admirer, Roger Mueller of Greenville, SC, who never missed a week without bringing her flowers.
She was a bit of a rebel for her day, a respected horsewoman, pianist, pilot, seamstress, nurse, mother, golfer, bridge player, companion and caretaker. She was an independent and ambitious woman and taught her two daughters to be equally so. And she taught her son to love and listen with his whole heart.
The family will be holding a private memorial service.
