Mabel Goodman Hailey

It is with great sadness that the family of Mabel G. Hailey announces her passing on March 17, 2025 at the age of 99. She loved her family, had a flare for flower gardening, decorating and fashion for all things white and aqua. That style was complimented on, by others everywhere she went.

Mabel was born in Forsyth County on December 5, 1925 to the late Webb Goodman and Della Duggins Goodman. Through her 99 years, she always embodied grace and generosity. Mabel was thoughtful and kind. She never forgot a loved one's birthday and looked forward to celebrating with them.

She was a long-time member of Parkway Baptist Church where she helped in the nursery and helped any church member where she could. Mabel was always there with a home cooked meal for any friend needing a helping hand.

In her spare time, Mabel loved decorating and organizing. Her family always thought she should have been an interior designer. She kept a beautifully pristine home. She also loved gardening and loved seeing her flowers blossom each year. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and doting grandmother. She will truly be missed.

In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her brothers Paul and Luther Goodman; husband, James “Brock” Hailey; granddaughter, Bridgette Mooney; daughter-in-law Mary Neil; grandson Trip Hailey; and son-in-law, Bobby Bennet.

Left behind to miss her kind heart are her children, Myra Bennett, Sheila (Mitch) Mooney, Tina (Rich) New, and Skip Hailey; grandchildren, Lisa (Darryl) Sheppard, Erik Mooney, and Justin (K’Senyia) Mooney; great grandchildren, Hailey Sheppard, Mila Mooney, Shane (Jordyn) Mooney, and Austin Mooney; great great grandchildren, Karter Mooney and Wade Mooney; sister, Grace Thompson; niece and nephews, Rebecca Thompson, Michael Thompson, David (Polly) Thompson, William Thompson and many other loved ones.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 3pm at Forsyth Memorial Park.
