At a young age, her family moved to Greensboro where she grew up. She graduated from Greensboro Senior High School in 1957 and Morse-Dobbs Business College in 1961. She married the late Lawrence James “Jimmie” Sutton on July 24, 1965. They eventually settled in Winston-Salem where they raised their two loving sons, Kevin and Ashley.
Linda was a very dedicated Christian. She was a devoted member of College Park Baptist Church and then Ardmore Baptist Church where she looked forward to her Sunday School and participating in many committees. The friendships she made at both where strong and withstood time. The ‘College Park Chicks’ and the ‘Ardmore Hens’ still remain close to this day.
She was an avid indoor gardener, making sure to care for each flower and plant with love, especially her African Violets. Linda was an amazing cook. One of her greatest accomplishments was being recognized by Southern Living as one of their ‘Cooks Across the South”.
Linda leaves behind her sons, Kevin Windsor Sutton of Greenville, NC, and Ashley Tyler Sutton of Winston-Salem; aunt, Phyllis (Larry) Collins; sister-in-law, Carolyn S. Brann; niece, Lesley (Stacey) Dover; nephew, Eric (Maegan) Brann; and many other loved ones and family members.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 25th at 11am at Vogler Funeral & Cremations at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service.
