Kay Francis (McBride) Cumby

She was born in Forsyth County, NC on July 7, 1947 to Arthur and Kate (Sain) McBride who preceded her in death.

She married Tommy Cumby on February 4, 1967 and they were married for 49 years until his passing in 2016.

Kay worked at Lewisville United Methodist Church in the before and after school care and preschool for over 20 years. She loved all of the children who came through the doors and all of her coworkers as well, but her biggest and most loved “job” would have been taking care of her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending their events, from dance recitals to FFA events.

She was a member of the Union United Methodist Church and served in several capacities there.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law Erin (Brad) Collins of Yadkinville and her grandchildren John Thomas and Katy Mae. Her brother Hubert McBride of Winston-Salem and his children, Stephen McBride of Winston-Salem and Kayla Mayhew of Winston-Salem. Special family Barbara Mabe of Lawsonville, Elizabeth Johnson of Walnut Cove, and Amanda Tilley of Lawsonville, and their families.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter (Frances Lee), brother and sister-in-law Hugh and Janice McBride, and sister-in-law Sandi McBride.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 1, 2023 at 1:00pm at Vogler Funeral & Cremations at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.
