Jo spent most of her life in Indianapolis, only recently moving to North Carolina. She graduated from Shortridge High School then attended Butler University for two years. As a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority she made friends that lasted her lifetime. During this time she met the love of her life, Jim Wright. They married 2 days after Jim graduated from college. While Jim served in the Pacific, Jo worked for Eli Lilly making live Japanese encephalitis vaccine for the men fighting in the Pacific theater. When the war was over, she became a homemaker and a mother to 3 daughters. She enjoyed golfing and took art lessons. She played golf into her 90s and enjoyed painting into her 100s.
She is survived by her daughter Judy Baker, son-in-law Boyd Baker, son-in-law Don Pinnick, and son-in-law Rick Reel, Grandchildren James (Kate), Elizabeth (Peter), Lenny (Griselda), Amy (Omar), Brian (Carrie), Sally (Trevor), and Jimmy. And great-grandchildren Anna, Charlotte, Ella, Astrid, Theo, Leo, Milena, Antonio, Samantha, Taylor, and Cooper. She was proceeded in death by her husband Jim, daughters Nancy Pinnick and Patty Reel, and granddaughter Katy Reel.
She and Jim attended Northminster Presbyterian Church. A celebration of life will be held there this summer. Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society, Alzheimers Association, or her church.
