He graduated from Albemarle High School in 1949 where he excelled at football and tennis and was an avid pilot, earning his pilot’s license at just 16 years of age. He enlisted in the Air National Guard during high school, and upon graduation enrolled in UNC School of Pharmacy in Chapel Hill, N.C. After months of rehabilitation and surgeries to enable him to walk again, he returned to UNC and earned his Pharmacy degree in 1956. During his career as a leader in hospital pharmacy practice, he served as the Director of Pharmacy at Forsyth Memorial Hospital for 27 years and held one term as President of the N.C. Society of Hospital Pharmacy.
Frank loved swimming, fishing, camping and boating with his family and was a huge animal lover.
