Dotty, as she was affectionately called, was born on May 22, 1933 to the late William and Eulalie Miller Taylor. She attended Roanoke College and earned a bachelor’s degree from Salem College. Dotty worked in higher education at multiple institutions including Salem College and Albertus Magnus College, before retiring as the Director of Continuing Education at Sacred Heart University.
She was a devout Christian and proud member of Unity Moravian Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir and was a past church board member and active member of the Women's Fellowship.
Dotty was an active and dedicated member of her community. She served in a variety of roles as a board member of the Friends of the Lewisville Library. She led the drive and the fund raising efforts to install handicap doors at the library - an accomplishment she was very proud of.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing the piano. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Dotty was a loving mother and a loyal and caring friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Dotty was preceded in death by her husband, Edward V. Sayers Jr. She leaves behind her children, Gregory (Jerri) Sayers, Laurna (Stephen) Worden, Jeffery Sayers, and Lynda (Timmy) Hamilton; and her grandchildren, Kaitlin Worden, Christopher Worden, Reilly Hamilton, Sadie Hamilton, and Will Coleman.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 15th at 10am at Unity Moravian Church, 8300 Concord Church Rd, Lewisville, NC, 27023, officiated by Pastor Scott Rainey. The family will receive friends for a reception at the church after the service. Dotty will be laid to rest next to her husband at Forsyth Memorial Park.
