David Alan McCombs

David Alan McCombs of Pfafftown, North Carolina passed away on October 27, 2022. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandpa and uncle. He enjoyed “paying it forward” in drive-throughs and had a soft heart for animals and anyone who needed help.

He was born on March 15, 1956 in Galesburg, Illinois and graduated from Galesburg High School, where he played football and was on the wrestling team, among other sports activities. He moved to Florida in 1980 and soon began working for a sign company which was purchased by Allen Industries. In 1994, Allen asked him to move to North Carolina to work in their Greensboro firm, where he worked until the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Raymond McCombs and by a beloved nephew, Matt Copeland. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sally McCombs, his daughters Sarah McCombs and Katie McCombs, his sister Rosemary (Mike), Edle his nephew Mike Copeland, his niece Michele (Jamie) Wilson, his uncle Bernard (Becky) Swanson and many grand nieces and nephews. He loved spending time with extended family members Lamar and L.J. Copeland, and Nathan Grimes. Dave considered dear friends Arnold and Debbie Butner part of the family.

David’s kindness and sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and co-workers.
