Brenda Joyce Barnes

Brenda was born in Surry County, NC a daughter to the late, L. Woodrow Whitaker and the late, Ida Pratt Whitaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Barnes and two brothers, Harold and Kenny Whitaker.

She was a charter member of Pfafftown Baptist Church. Brenda was a proud, loving, and dedicated beloved wife, mother, grandma, nana, and g-nana. She leaves behind to cherish her memories a son, Gregory Lee Barnes and Melissa Hess of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Lori Fleming and husband, Greg of Pilot Mountain; siblings, Philip Whitaker and wife, Bonnie of Walnut Cove, NC, Pattie Whitaker of King, Joan Adkins and husband, Gary of Pilot Mountain, NC; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren, her special friend of 21 years, Claude Royall; a sister in law Ann Whitaker; and a host of extended family and loving friends.

A funeral service will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, at Frank Vogler and Sons Reynolda Road Chapel, with Rev. Eddie Bracket and Rev. Grant Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
