On May 11, 2022, Tina Letkemann, age 96 passed away peacefully at Pembina Place PCH. After 57 years in a happy, loving marriage, Jakob Letkemann predeceased Tina in 2011. She waited patiently to join him and the family is comforted knowing they are together again.
Tina leaves to cherish her memory her children, David (Susan); Kathy (Tim) – Elizabeth (Matthew), Andrew (Candice), Christina (James); Ted (Joy) – Jennifer, Kyla; Tim (Kate) – Avery, Regan; Helen (Arnie, predeceased) – Spencer (Sarah), Levi (Brooke), Cassidy (Quinn). She will be missed by great-grandchildren Alina, Jacoby, Sarah, Zebedee, Kayleigh, Ivy and Arthur. She will also be lovingly remembered by sisters Helen (Ralph) and Trudy (Jake) and sisters-in-law Margaret and Linda (Abe).
Tina was born on December 22, 1925, in Silberfeld Manitoba to Peter and Judith Loewen. She grew up with eight siblings in a home full of love and laughter. Money was scarce in her home and so she learned early in life to be resourceful, flexible and creative.
Mom and Dad met at Elim Bible School and they married in 1953. Mom embraced the traditional role of being a homemaker and supported Dad’s career with grace and dignity. Although resources were often limited, Mom made sure her five children had what they needed. She saw the goodness in each one and encouraged them to be their best.
Faith was central to Mom and Dad’s life. They were long-time members of Home Street Mennonite Church and in later years joined Bethel Mennonite Church when they resided at Bethel Place.
Mom was an exceptional woman, wise, patient and always loving. She took great delight as her family grew and welcomed each new addition into her loving embrace. She was an active and compassionate grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her extended family and friends.
A special thank you to the staff at Pembina Place for the wonderful care Mom received for the last six years.
