Remembered With Love
Terrance Michael Petty
May 18, 1946-October 26, 2023
With his loving family by his side, Terrance (Rance) Petty passed away on October 26, 2023 at the age of 77. Left to cherish his memory are Anne, his wife of 41 years, his son Darren, his sister, Carol and his beloved golden, Maggie.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mary, his older brothers Frank and Vincent, his sister-in-law Tillie, and all our cats and dogs over the years.
His father ingrained an entrepreneurial spirit into his youngest son. He had a unique gift for taking an idea and bringing it to fruition. He moved to La Salle in 1970, and was instrumental in building and organizing the La Salle Curling Club, the outdoor skating rink, coaching baseball, and establishing the local Chamber of Commerce. He was awarded the Certificate of Merit in 1988 by the Government of Canada. Later in life, he developed his property but still resided in the town of La Salle where he has many lifelong friends.
Rance was very social, and had many friends, from community, political, and business ventures. He valued people and always took the time to learn about people and their stories. Customers became friends throughout his life, and he always talked fondly about his friends.
In the family, he became the “hub,” and would often sit down and keep his family and friends up to date on anything and everything. He adored his nieces and nephews and cherished their time together.
He loved to take the dog for runs, talk on the phone, enjoy fireside chats with his wife, and the lake. In his earlier years, he avidly windsurfed, fished and camped, and enjoyed running. He was truly at peace outdoors and near water.
He was loved and cherished by all of us, and we will feel his loss deeply, from his sparkling eyes, to his welcoming smile, his stories, and his wit.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Rance’s life will be held at a later date in 2024. Details to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rance’s memory can be made to Winnipeg Harvest or a charity of your choice.
