Susanne was born December 25, 1934 in Lowe Farm, MB. , the fourth child in a family of five. The family moved to Winnipeg when she was in her teens. She graduated from Earl Grey High School, and met Peter soon after. They were married June 27, 1953, and quickly had two children: Shelley and Jeff. They raised their family in Winnipeg, with Susanne working to help out at United Grain Growers for 19 years, where she made many lifelong friends. In 1980, Susanne and Peter moved to B.C., and soon after she began her 13 year career with Menno Home, a job she loved, with people she loved.
Upon their retirement in 1995, Susanne and Peter moved back to Winnipeg to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She was in her element, and loved to be able to spend time with them, as well as other family members. She was a giving person, and her family was very special to her. She was very involved in giving her time and energy to many organizations, and volunteered with MCC for several years, along with Christian Womens' and the Haggai Institute in Hawaii.
So many wonderful people have made our journey a little easier. Friends and family who sent cards; visited; brought flowers, soup, or baking; encouraged; prayed for Susanne and for us will be forever in our hearts. In addition, the caring staff at the St. Boniface Hospital 3E, her doctors: Lotocki, Dean, and Salem, and most recently the wonderful staff of 3E at the Riverview Health Centre will always have our gratitude and love. Finally, we would like to thank the management and staff of Dignity Memorial for their compassion and caring throughout Susanne's illness, as well as her passing.
