While we grieve for her, and as heartbreaking as it may be, we should not let the grief overcome us. Losing someone is nothing but change, and life is a series of constant change. Things in life are all but permanent. We can’t control that our mother has passed away, but we can control how we react to it.
A great part of her will remain with us even though she is no longer physically present. The memories of her are ours, and there is nothing more secure for us than that which has been. Let us not forget our past memories with her because we are hopeful for the future, as if the future—if so be that any future is ours—will not be quickly blended with the past. Let us not set narrow limits on the happiness that we found with her by only taking pleasure in the present. Both past and future serve for happiness: the one with anticipation, and the other with memories. But the one is uncertain and may not come to pass, while the other must have been. Let us rejoice in the time and the happy memories that we had with her, allowing them to bring us comfort in this time of this grief.
She always wanted us to be happy and take care of ourselves, and that hasn’t changed. Let her life and the way she lived serve as an inspiration, doing so to honor her memory and make sure her presence continues to remain.

My mother would go to Vadde Mummy’s house from time to time and I would sometimes go with her. The main reason I would go was just to see Vadde Mummy herself. There was something about her face—something that drew you in. Sitting in her company felt warm. In her presence, you would forget your worries and anything else going on. She was as pure as nature itself. Sitting beside her felt like many of nature’s most peaceful moments: the sound of water flowing by a river, the sound of birds in the morning, or simply a sunset.
For some of us, she was a friend. For some, she was a sister. But to most of us, she was a mother. She was the anchor that held us all together. She took care of us all, wanting only the best for each of us. She was a canopy of blessing under whose shadow we all lived.
The morning after I heard the heartbreaking news of her passing, I woke up in denial. I was convinced I had experienced a terrible dream. But as I checked my phone, the messages and calls from the night before told me otherwise. It was not a dream. It was reality. Even now, I cannot fully believe that she is gone. Our eyes still search for her in the places she would normally be. Just two days ago, I sat on the couch in her house, hoping that she would just walk out of the room and it would all be normal. But she didn’t. Her absence is deeply felt. She has left a void in our hearts, one that will never be filled.

She never complained and always greeted the world with a warm and genuine smile. Her gentle spirit and loving nature will be forever cherished in our hearts. May her soul find eternal peace in the embrace of the Divine. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
