Simeon was born in 1935 in Ipoh, Malaysia, where he studied at St Michael's School, and received a diploma in Civil Engineering from the Technical Institute of Kuala Lumpur. He then worked with the Public Works Department in rural Malaysia. He took 2 years off in Scotland to earn a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Strathclyde. Afterwards, he worked throughout Malaysia as a Civil Engineer. In 1970 he moved the family to Singapore where he raised his 3 children and managed a ready mix concrete company.
In 1988 the family moved again to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he would live for 36 years. Here he was able to retire early and spend more time with his loving wife, and take care of his aging mother and his siblings. He and his wife had the opportunity to travel extensively, and help raise their grandchildren who lived in Winnipeg at various times. He always worked hard which allowed him to achieve his life’s ambition of providing a better life for his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Simeon’s memory to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
