With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sik Ngok Chau, age 97, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, on October 27, 2022. In her final moments, she left this world peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Sik Ngok was born on July 28, 1925, in China. In 1944, she met and wed her beloved Tee Min, going on to have ten children. Sik Ngok dedicated her life to being a loving mother. Sik Ngok excelled at raising her children and supporting them through their passions and difficulties. Whether experiencing family relocations to Burma, Taiwan, or Canada, she made it her mission to keep her family together.
Sik Ngok was passionate about clothesmaking and embroidery. She found a creative outlet designing children's fashion; her needlework was beautiful and unparalleled. Moreover, she prided herself on dressing immaculately, and her sense of style was always on trend.
Sik Ngok is predeceased by her parents, two sisters, husband, eldest son, son-in-law Aloysius, son-in-law Shee Hong, and grandson Robet. Mourned by her children Elisabet Aye, Ngain Sung (Bing Ho) Au, Doris (Peter) Chong, Fee Jim Wong, Richard (Lily) Chau, Fee Shu-Jackie (Navy) Au, Fee Yu-Helen (Steven) Chang, Wendy Chau, and Wayne (Grace) Chau, extended family, and friends. Although she is gone, Sik Ngok's legacy lives on through her 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A viewing and visitation for Sik Ngok will be held Monday, November 7, 2022, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C0X4. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 8, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Thomson Funeral Home. A reception following the funeral service at 5:00 PM at Kum Koon Restaurant, 257 King St, Winnipeg, MB R3B 1J6.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Diabetes Canada in Sik Ngok's honour.
