Shirley Grace (Desrosiers) Harrop

Left to cherish her memory are her children Bridget (Don), Garry (Paulette), Blaine (Wanda), David, Georgina (George), daughter-in-law Marilyn, sister Darlene (Dale), brother Alex (Effie), numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and special friends Barry and Lynn. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Joyce, brother Ryan, son Conrad and grandson Tarrick.

Mom was born in rural Saskatchewan and loved sharing stories of her life growing up on a homestead farm and special memories of her grandfather. In her later years, mom lived in Winnipeg and then Alberta where she was a homecare support worker and took pride in helping others. Following her retirement she returned to Winnipeg where she spent her final years.

A special thank you to the staff at Résidence Despins who cared for mom for the last 4 years and became her extended family and the staff at Grace Hospital 2 South.

Mom declined a funeral service and asked that the following poem be shared with her family.

To My Family

I go from you gently, for it is my time

To take the next step in this journey of mine.

Don’t grieve for me long, as I have not left you alone;

For I will be with you in the love that we’ve known.

That love is forever, and some day when it’s time,

You’ll join me again on this journey of mine.
