Rosaline, fondly known as Rose, was born in Neepawa, Manitoba, as the youngest of nine children. She attended both elementary school and high school in Neepawa before moving to Winnipeg, where she married Mathew Filjak. In Winnipeg, Rose started her family and spent the rest of her life creating countless cherished memories.
In her younger years, Rose found joy in sewing, knitting, crocheting and baking delicious treats for her children, especially during Christmas. She was always so proud of all her children. Despite facing some health challenges, Rose’s indomitable spirit never wavered. She loved traveling around Winnipeg to visit her dear friends, watch movies and go shopping.
Rose was an avid reader with a passion for country music, and she loved attending live concerts. In her later years, she found great joy in the Charleswood Day Club, where she made many close friends. During her time at Calvary Place, Rose enjoyed watch game shows and welcoming visitors to her room, always offering them drinks and cookies to enjoy.
Rose has a delightful sense of humour and you could always count on her to laugh at your jokes. Her loving presence will be deeply missed by her family and close friends
A private Celebration of Life with Rose’s closest friends and family members will be held at a later date.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Calvary Place for their patience, compassion and care during Rose’s last eighteen months. We also want to thank her nieces, Deborah and Alvina and Alvina’s husband Martin, for their faithful visits, phone calls, correspondence, and friendship throughout Rose’s life. Additionally, we extend a special “thank you” to Jude, who has been a good friend and support to Rose for many years.
