It is profound sorrow that we share the passing of Rob on February 19, 2023 at Riverview Health Centre, with his loving wife, Nicole, by his side.
Rob was predeceased by his parents Russell and Eileen, sister Rosalind, brother Dave, brother-in-law Patrick and his sister Marilyn.
He is survived by a large and loving family, including his wife and soul-mate Nicole; daughter Laura (Laing), son Derek; grandchildren Jamie, Rhys, Taylor; stepson Matt (Rachelle), step-grandchildren Oliver and Lily; also brothers Gord (Christa), Bill (Kathi), Brian (Patti), Don (Tracy), Doug (Heather), brother-in-law Robin, sister Susan and sister-in-law Elaine, along with many nieces and nephews.
Growing up in Riverview and River Heights, Rob developed many lifelong friendships that he cherished deeply.
As we travel back through his life, one thing that stands out is his love of sports. Rob stayed active in basketball, volleyball, curling, Touch football and slo-pitch baseball including coaching some teams. He also had fond memories of participating in curling bonspiels with his dad, brothers and brother-in-law Robin.
He obtained a Commerce Honours degree at University of Manitoba, leading him to work at the TD Bank from 1976 to 2003 in numerous capacities. It was obvious Rob was gifted with a brilliant mind. He always worked with quiet strength and confidence.
Rob spent many warm, sunlit summers at the family cottage in Ponemah as a child and as an adult.
His love of music was undeniable. Whether dancing with Nicole or playing his favorite tunes until the wee hours of the morning.
The family wishes to extend its thanks to the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their care, support and compassion; especially Melanie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Riverview Health Centre.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd, Winnipeg, MB.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.thomsoninthepark.com for the Sharpe family.
