Raffaele Torchia

After a brief illness, beloved husband and father Raffaele Torchia passed away at the age of 77 years on July 31, 2014 in Winnipeg Manitoba.

Raffaele was born in Amato Italy on January 10, 1937 to Maria and Luigi Torchia. He married Palmina DeCaria on August 20th 1961 and moved to Canada in 1967 with their son Luigi (Gino) Torchia. His greatest enjoyment was watching Luigi marry his wife Annick (Adam) Torchia. Raffaele has four brothers and sisters in Italy Ausuntino, Aurelia, Filomena, Rosina and numerous nephews and nieces.

Raffaele started working as a general labourer for a construction company. In 1970 he started as a foundry worker at Canadian Bronze until 1997. Raffaele enjoyed gardening, going to the cottage, making wine, playing boccie and being with family and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Rosary Parish Church, 510 River Avenue on Saturday August 9th at 10:00 am with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano as the Celebrant. Viewing and condolences will begin at 9:00 am. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum at the Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley Street.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Masi, Vincenzo DeCaria, Francesco Grande, Andy Fietz, Edward Girden and James Girden.

The family would like to thank all the Doctors and Nurses at the Victoria General Hospital for their support and help.
