He will be dearly missed and cherished by his wife, children, grandchildren as well as his extended family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a caring father, amazing grandfather and a valuable member of the community.
Mr. P.L. Sharma was an exemplary citizen whose excellent leadership in the field of community service was always gratefully appreciated. He held the title of President of the Commonwealth Club of Manitoba along with the title of Vice President of the Manitoba Hindu Senior Society of Manitoba. He was the director of the Punjab Foundation of Manitoba and also for the India Canada Cultural & Heritage Association.
He has been honoured by all levels of government. The Mayor of Winnipeg has given him a community service award, the Minister of Justice appointed him as the Human Rights Commissioner of Manitoba twice. Furthermore, the Federal government had appointed him to the Board of Directors of Forks North Portage partnership for two terms.
It was a moment of great pride for the entire family when Mr. P.L. Sharma was honoured with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his service to the Indo-Canadian community over the last four decades.
He will forever be remembered as a jolly man with a large heart and a beautiful soul. His wife, children and grandchildren will strive to preserve his memory and carry on his legacy. Rest in peace, Mr. P.L. Sharma. We love you, and God bless.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. followed by Shanti Path at Hindu Temple, 999 St. Anne’s Road, Winnipeg, MB at 6:00 p.m.
