Patrick passed away peacefully at home on November 20, 2021 at the age of 74. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years Edye (Ansklavins), children Kris (Daryl), Jon (Tracy), Sandra, Reghan, Leslie (Ludger), 14 grandchildren Jordon (Katherine), Jasmine (Jared), Rachel, Hartley, Nathan, Thomas, Jett, Sandra, Nicholas, Samuel, Elizabeth, Marcus, Julia and Evelyn, siblings Peter, Paul (Sherolyn), Steve (Sue), Mathew (Jess), Joanne (Tony), Tim (Samantha), and Pancake the cat. He is predeceased by his wife Rachelle, parents John and Sheila, parents-in-law Janis and Dzidra, father-in-law Ted, brother Mike, sister-in-law Gundy and grandson Paul, with whom he will rest in Kingston, Ontario.
Patrick was born, raised, lived and worked in Winnipeg his whole life. He attended St. Ignatius School, St.Paul High School and graduated from Kelvin High School. He began his banking career at Scotia Bank in 1966 and in 1977 Pat joined his friend to the end, Herve, at Heritage Credit Union. He spent the later years working at Winnipeg Police Credit Union and Median Credit Union until he “quit the bank” after 27 years.
Patrick is remembered as a strong and steady man whose intellect could be relied upon. He was a charming man who gained people’s loyalty and could also have a whole room laughing. Patrick enjoyed tending to his lawn and especially showing off “the dreaded angle cut” that he was certain was the envy of the neighbourhood. He will be remembered for many games of Horse and sky hooks at the basketball hoop, his meticulous and old school approach to financials and tax filing, his love of British mystery shows, Charles Dickens, Jaromir Jagr, Sinatra, Solitaire, limericks, day trading, bread pudding and his low and slow barbecue method.
Patrick is fondly remembered by the many neighbours who enjoyed his chats about the politics and sports of the day, family who enjoyed his joviality and sense of humour, friends who would stay up into the wee hours listening and dancing to (and on) his prized Sinatra albums, and his children’s childhood friends who remember the man, the myth, the legend that was our dad.
In line with Pat’s wishes, there will be no service. A memorial slideshow will be shared on Facebook in the coming weeks.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, Sick Kids Hospital, or plant tulips in Pat’s memory.
