It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nelson Soltess at Oakview Place on January 2, 2025 at 78 years of age.
Nelson will be lovingly remembered by Dianne, his spouse of 44 years, children; Erin (Ian) Russell and Jim (Melissa) Soltess, grandchildren; Mason and Zoe Russell, Eva and Emily Soltess. He was predeceased by his parents Morris and Lena Soltess and sister Lorraine Manning.
Nelson grew up in the North end of Winnipeg. After graduating from Sisler High School, he received his BA degree at the University of Winnipeg and his teaching degree from the University of Manitoba. Nelson taught in the St. James-Assiniboia School Division for 39 years. He taught at Robert Browning, Voyageur, Stevenson and Strathmillan Schools.
He enjoyed golfing with his long-time friend Richard Dziedzic. Nelson loved fishing and hunting in his youth. He was a devoted father often volunteering to coach/participate in his children’s activities. He was an avid reader and always liked a good joke.
As per Nelson’s wishes, there will be a private family interment.
