June 27, 1920 - March 22, 2012
Peacefully on March 22, Elmer went to be with his Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ.
He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Ruth of
58 years, brother Homer and his wife Wilma, sister Edith Kerr and,
brother-in-law Peter Cottingham, as well as many nieces and
nephews. Elmer will be greatly missed by Ruth's family and his friends.
Elmer was predeceased by his mother Bertha, father Wilmot,
sisters Helen and Muriel, brother Clair, brother-in-law
Don Kerr, nephew Rodney Gill and niece Elizabeth Anne Kerr.
Elmer was born at Neepawa, MB, on June 27, 1920, and attended
school at Arden and Neepawa. He spent happy years growing up
on the farm at Arden helping his parents. He loved to entertain
by telling about his experiences with farming, working
with machinery, buying and selling animals, especially horses
needed for agricultural purposes prior to the tractor era.
Elmer began his adult career with graduation from Teachers
College, followed by teaching at Portage la Prairie and other
Manitoba towns. Employment with the Canadian Pacific Railway,
Winnipeg, followed until his retirement in 1985.
Elmer enjoyed travelling, reading, games and gardening, and
helping others in need. He gave glory to God for every blessing
and aspect of his life. Elmer always treasured the blessings
of church connection.
He was a great encourager of children and will be remembered
for welcoming nieces, nephews and friends to his horne. Many
of them were assisted in developing their careers and talents.
If friends so desire, a donation in his memory may be made to
Living Bible Explorers, 600 Burnell St., Winnipeg, R3G 2B7.
Special thanks to Dr. Angel Ip for her concerned care of
Elmer over the years.
Funeral service will be on Thursday, March 29, at 10:00 a.m.,
at Thomson Funeral Chapel, Furby St. and Broadway.
