Following Michael's wishes, in the warmer days to come, a private, family celebration of life will be held.
Michael (or rather Mike as he preferred) leaves behind his wife, Anna Tymchuk, to whom he was married to for 41 years. Together, they had three daughters: Calista (Jeff), Cassandra (Emil) and Catherine (Randy), and the three of their daughters gave forth many grandchildren - Triston, Braden, Caleb, Hannah, Michaela, Austin, Violet, Bruce, and Charles. Mike also leaves behind him his brothers and sister: Darrell (Sandy), Steve, Rod (Junko) and Darlene (Brian) - and a multitude of nieces and nephews. He has aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends - all of which he now leaves behind as well.
Mike will be missed.
Mike had many jobs over his lifetime, but he always found that his place was where he could work with his hands, and in a supervisor type position. He worked long hours, any day of the week and any shift you offered! He enjoyed his work - with his last position being with Boeing. He would often exaggerate that he built all the 747’s, all by himself. When asked if he could fly one too, he said his job was done - and it was someone else’s turn.
He liked to travel - but hadn’t had many opportunities to do so. He spent some time in Niagara Falls with his wife - which they enjoyed, and their last trip - to Hawaii. He loved it, and talked about it so much after they got back. The food, the smells, the view, the water… he had always preferred warm weather Anyways!
Mike loved to fish, and found many opportunities to take his wife, children (in laws), grandchildren, and friends to many of Manitobas rivers and lakes. He had at one point been a Master Angler - and was so excited to be a part of that group!
He also loved to build, create (this includes with food!) or renovate where he could. He learned some basic electrical work at a young age from his father, John Tymchuk who had been an electrician. He tried his hand at basic renovations around his house, built little toys, and was always and forever collecting items to take apart later.
He learned some of his cooking skills from his mother, Germaine Tymchuk, but the rest of his experiments in the kitchen came from watching cooking shows. However, he always had a love of barbecuing, and you could never convince him propane was the way to go. He loved to garden as well - because the best thing coming out of there were beets and potatoes for a ‘real borscht’.
Mikes last battle with illness was short, which can be looked at as a blessing. He was resolute in his final decisions, he was aware of how things would happen, and in his final weeks, was accepting of what was to come.
One wish of his was that things were to remain the same, as much as possible. He did not want a huge ‘hoopla’ made, and wanted his daughters there for their mom. Those wishes will be granted.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
