Maurice passed away after a brief battle with pneumonia, on December 30th, 2024 at 90 years of age at Steinbach Bethesda Hospital.
Maurice will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 55 years Lilian Bouderlique; children Michelle (Garry) Premack, Steve (Ellie) Bouderlique; Evelyn (George) Sim, and Susie; grandchildren David (Heidi) Grienke, Casey (Phil) Lemoine, Chelsey Du Bourg, Courtney (Ashley) Priest, Zachary (Cassandra) Grienke; and twelve great grandchildren.
Maurice was born in the small town of Somerset, Manitoba to Eugene and Laura Bouderlique. On leaving school, he worked for MTS on the poles. He spent several years working at various jobs while spending his spare time continuing his education, learning appliance repair. He graduated in 1978 and soon after opened Bouderlique Appliance Repair, servicing the Steinbach and surrounding area. He retired in 1994 but continued to take calls well into 1995.
Maurice met Lilian, his future bride, in late 1968 and after a short courtship they were wed on August 2, 1969. In those early years together, they lived in Winnipeg and would often attend the ballet at the Winnipeg Concert Hall. Maurice coached the first community all girls’ hockey team in North Kildonan and took Judo classes.
Later when the family moved to Steinbach, Maurice enjoyed travelling with the family to Longbow Lake where he would spend countless hours fishing with friends and family. During the winter months, you could find him either snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in the field behind their home, with his dog always by his side. Maurice always had a green thumb, whether rototilling the massive vegetable garden or pruning his beloved roses, he was most certainly in his happy place.
In later years, Maurice would give up the vegetable garden and fill his time mastering his love of painting and working out at the gym. Those became his passions.
Everyone knew Maurice’s love of his favourite restaurant Smitty’s, whether he was enjoying a daily coffee and reading the comics, or having his weekly supper with his wife Lilian. We would like to thank all the staff over the years for always treating Maurice as family.
Right to the end, Maurice never lost his sense of humour and his desire to make people laugh.
Thank you to Dr. Schwartz and all the staff at Steinbach Bethesda Hospital for their unwavering compassionate care of Maurice.
Thank you as well to all those that expressed their condolences.
There will be a small private Celebration of Life at a later date, following cremation.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made in his memory to Steinbach Animal Rescue. Please visit their website at www.steinbachanimalrescue.com or send cash or cheques to 20 Brandt Street, Unit 3, Box #234, Steinbach, MB R5G 1Y2.
