It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joan Weselak peacefully with Son David
and wife Keri by her side on February 17 2022.
Joan will be lovingly remembered by her son David and his wife Keri, grandchildren Caeden, Talon, Eben,
Merrick, Ethan and Owen.
Joan was predeceased by her son Kevin and loving husband Vic.
Mom grew up in Langruth Mb (Lakeland) and later moved to Winnipeg where she met and married Dad
July 4th 1964. They raised their two sons, Kevin and David in their family home in Fort Garry. She
attended teachers college and graduated to become a phys ed teacher. She taught at General Byng and
Acadia high school. She was often referred to as Mom instead of Miss Weselak.
Mom and Dad retired in 2003, which gave mom lots of time to continue her love of gardening. She was a
member of the horticultural society and won several awards. Her garden was spectacular. They also
became snowbirds and loved spending winters in Texas where they enjoyed many rounds of golf. They
also enjoyed happy hour with their neighbors who became lifelong friends.
Later in life mom moved to Pinawa with her partner Geoff Knight where she continued her love of
gardening. They enjoyed cruising of allsorts, on the Pinawa river on their pontoon boat and on the
highways on the motorcycle and then the Spyder. In the winter they would travel many kilometers
breaking their own trails by snowshoe through the bush in Pinawa.
Mom will be forever loved and forever missed.
We would like to thank the staff in the ICU at the Grace Hospital for taking such good care of mom.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the cancer society.
