Mark Trent Newman left this world June 14, 2023, always to be remembered with a grin on his face, that twinkle in his eyes and a hat on his head.
He leaves behind the center of his life, his cherished daughters Jennifer Newman of Rainy River and Jodi Newman of Winnipeg; his son Terry of Thunder Bay; his precious grandchildren Mercedez and Braxton whom he was so proud of. Showing up to any and every event he could, no matter how big or small it was, he always made it. Mercedez, being the first grand baby was his little “punkin” who could get away with most things, as he’d smirk and give in. Braxton Trent being his namesake did not disappoint by being as feisty and curious as his Grampy. He also leaves his brothers Guy (Florence), Craig (Colleen) and Kevin; always his buddies with their September fishing trip being a highlight for him; and his nephew Tristan, who he always had great visits with discussing their work and love of heavy equipment.
Mark also was very lucky to have been included in the life of his bonus family who were very special to him; Jim and Florence, Dan and Janet, Dylan, Dustin and Sarah and their children Julia and Jade. He enjoyed spending a great amount with all of them including working and living with them and being a part of the family in every aspect.
Mark had a life well lived with all his adventures! He met friends anywhere he went, which was everywhere. Driving truck was a job that became a way of life that became who he was. His travels gave him the opportunity to see a lot of new places and meet a lot of interesting people. Even after he quit driving long haul he was still a trucker, keeping his tales of the road alive with a story. A great story teller he always had an active and entertained audience ready for more. If he wasn’t giving a story he was teaching someone ready to learn or giving advice on something you might not even know you needed advice on. He enjoyed these training sessions, unless of course you weren’t willing to learn, which would send him into a spiral of Mark talk. Nonetheless, he always enjoyed giving a helping hand and his presence will be missed immensely, by his friends and family.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 1:30pm at the South Transcona Community Centre, 124 Borden Ave., Winnipeg, MB.
