Peacefully, Maria Sawatzky (Dueck), passed away on Monday, July 7th, 2014 at the age of 67. Maria is survived by her husband of 45 years, Martin, and her 4 children: Leonard (Katie), Wanda (Ken), Ken (Jackie), and Linda. Maria had many grandchildren who will miss her dearly: Lea, Matthew, Nicole, Kasandra, Alyssa, Jake, Grace, and Landen. Maria was born in Loma Plata, Paraguay. She moved to Winnipeg with her husband and 2 young children in 1972. Maria loved planting flowers, sewing many blankets for her family, and baking cookies with her grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014, 10 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Home. Thank you to the paramedics for your compassion. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or Cancer Care Manitoba.
