Peacefully on August 25, after a lengthy illness, Margaret May Moroz, at the age of 89 years.
Born in Winnipeg on November 11, 1932, to Nazar and Ksenia Lutz, Margaret grew up in Winnipeg’s North End. After graduating from St. John’s High School, where she made many treasured and lifelong friendships, she took a position as an x-ray technician, a job she held until after she married her husband Ben and began to raise a family.
Re-entering the work force after her sons were in school, Margaret enjoyed a very successful career in real estate, and particularly cherished the person-to-person relationships she formed as a result of her work. She was a voracious antique collector, and was surrounded by countless unique and interesting pieces in her home. Music was a constant presence in her life; she loved to listen to music on the radio and streamed over the internet, she looked forward to her triennial pilgrimage to Banff for the International String Quartet Competition held there, and while at home she could always be found at WSO and WCMS live concerts, maintaining a membership in the WSO’s Women’s Committee for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben, her husband of 49 years, and siblings Irene, William and Andrew.
She is survived by her sister Janice, children David (Gwen), Daniel, Brian (Manon), grandchildren Miranda, Sasha, Sapphire, Juliana, Sébastien and Benjamin, and an extended family that remembers her fondly as “Auntie Marg."
Cremation and a private family memorial will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra or the Winnipeg Chamber Music Society.
