Frances Rasmussen
1921-2023
It is with sadness that the family announces Frances’s passing on October 15, 2023 shortly after her 102 birthday.
Frances is survived by son Randy (Ginette) Schinkel, daughter-in-law Sherry Schinkel; grandchildren Keith (Armelle) Schinkel, Nikki (Jeff) Dean, Leanne (Graham) Schinkel and great-grandchildren Jeremie, Annika, Jessica, Gunner and Fern.
Frances was predeceased by her first husband Sam Schinkel, her second husband Gordon Rasmussen, her sister Gladys, sons Rick and Barry and grandson Scott.
Frances grew up on the family farm at Starbuck, MB. She was an exceptional cook and often talked about cooking for dozens of those that helped at harvest time.
After moving from the farm into the town of Starbuck, she worked at Archie’s Meat Market for many, many years.
Frances loved gardening and had impressively large vegetable and flower gardens, which were her pride and joy.
She moved into the Waverley in Winnipeg in 2009. She resided there until 2022 when a serious bout of pneumonia forced her to move to Tuxedo Villa for more care.
Her family would like to thank all the staff at Tuxedo Villa especially everyone at Nursing Station 2, for the care given to Mom during her stay there.
Also a huge thank you to the many people who took her to Doctor’s appointments and brought her necessary items she needed when the family weren’t available.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 2:00pm at Thomson “In the Park’ Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd, Winnipeg.
A private interment will be held at the Starbuck cemetery.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.thomsoninthepark.com for the Rasmussen family.
