Lauretta Scarpino (nee Masi)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our Wife, Mother, Nonna and Sister Lauretta. She was born in Amato, Italy to Antonio and Maria Masi. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, of 68 years Giuliano, her sons Carmine (Anita) Tony (Rosa) and daughter Julie (Tom), grandchildren Adam (Isabelle), Carla (Ian), Stefano, Liam and great-grandchildren Jace and Stella, sister Marina DiNella, and In-laws Ralph Aiello, Maria Racano, and Lucia Scarpino, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Virginia and Fiorina, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-law.

She was born into a family of four sisters and married her husband Giuliano in June of 1954 before immigrating to Canada in March 1955 and made Winnipeg their home. Mom was a devoted homemaker and always put her family first. She was proud to learn how to drive and took English night classes to be able to adjust to the Canadian way of life. She worked in a variety of roles outside of the home. Her passions were cooking, gardening and entertaining family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Wednesday August 31, 2022 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue, with Reverend Father Sam Argenziano Celebrant. Condolences will commence at 10:00am.

Entombment will be at Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley St.

Pallbearers will be Carmen Scarpino, Joe Racano, Adam Scarpino, Ian Parsons, Stefano Scarpino, and Liam Swanlund.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Palliative Care Unit at the Riverview Health Center for their exceptional care of mom.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Lauretta to Manitoba Cancer Care and Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
