Mrs. June Athena Gardner

June Athena Gardner (nee Mitrou) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, February 21, 2014. Born June 22, 1926 in Brandon, Manitoba, wife of the late Cliff Gardner; daughter of the late Gregory and Christine Mitrou, sister of the late Coula Still (nee Mitrou); the late Florine (Flo) Mitrou, the late William (Bill) Mitrou (Hazel), and the late George Mitrou (Alyce). She is survived by her two sons Greg (Inga) and Ford (Gayle), and her stepgrandchildren Jonathon and Christopher (Micheline) and step great-grandchildren Bentley and Alexis Kirouac. June loved life, laughter, music and a nice bottle of wine. She so much enjoyed being with her many friends and family for any occasion ... be it to enjoy a good meal, tell stories, or play Bridge and was never at a loss for words in any situation. Some of her fondest memories are of her travelling with Cliff to Hawaii and Greece, and spending time with her three favourite nieces (the daughters she never had) Valerie Cameron, Darcee Woods, and Debbie Mitrou-Hall. A private family service will be held at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home with a memorial service to be announced at a later date.
