February 24, 1936 – August 11, 2015
After a lengthy illness, and with her family by her side, Joyce travelled peacefully on her stairway to heaven on August 11, 2015.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughter, Pat St. Hilaire, who was by her side throughout her incredible journey, son-in-law Rob, precious grandchildren Sabrina and Justin, son Doug, sister Eileen, brothers Ed (Augustine) and John (Trudy), and sister-in-law Emily. She was predeceased by her brother Frank (Emily).
Joyce enjoyed working as a floral designer until retirement and was an accomplished oil painter. She was very proud to share her passion for painting with first her grandchildren, and then with her daughter. Many unforgettable afternoons were spent creating wonderful pieces that will always be cherished.
Joyce was a great friend to many and lived life as best as she could to the fullest. She always enjoyed a good chuckle and much appreciated the thoughtfulness of family and close friends. Words cannot express the love she felt for her family and her sincere thankfulness to those who were ever-present, making sure she was well-cared for and happy. A special thank you is sent to sister Eileen, friends Sharon and Verna, the wonderful caregivers at the Kildonan Personal Care Centre, and the Palliative Care Team.
A memorial service celebrating Joyce’s life was held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
God shows that He is everywhere by the triumph and power of a mother’s love.
