JEAN EDITH PATON (ALLAN) (NEE SUTHERLAND)
JUNE 29,1931 – JANUARY 1, 2023
Born June 29, 1931 at Miniota, Manitoba. Daughter of William & Marion Sutherland.
Predeceased by brothers James, John & William.
Jean attended school at Arrow River Miniota, Brandon University (B.Sc.) and University of Manitoba (B.Ed.). Jean also was a piano teacher (A.R.C.T.) She taught school in Brandon and Fort Garry; later working at Fisheries and Oceans and then retired from Revenue Canada (Excise) in 1991.
In earlier years, Jean was active in school, sports, choir and festivals. She shared her love of life and her talents in many ways. Her love of music was shown in the many hours she played and sang for family, friends, church and senior choirs. Always willing to help out whenever asked.
Jean was a leader in Sunday School / Explorers and Cub Scouts in Windermere United Church, a Past Guardian of Bethel #8 International Order of Jobs Daughters, Past President of Fort Garry Teachers Association, Past President of Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion Fort Garry Branch #90, A member of the Order of Eastern Star
Jean's last residence was at Lindenwood Manor / Fort Garry. She had many friends there and enjoyed finding a new song to sing at each meal time for them. Jean's other pastime was her knitting. She made countless scarves, toques and pairs of mittens for donation. Being of service brought her great joy.
Jean was predeceased by her first husband, Ronald Hugh Allan in 1957.
She married Thomas Andrew Bryson Paton in 1987 – who predeceased her in 1993.
Our large family of children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will miss Jean tremendously. She has kept in contact with so many and held our family together.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd.
